Tourist attractions in Tumkur

Siddaganga (Kyatsandra)

Located close to Tumkur town. Famous for Siddaganga Mutt. Siddaganga also hosts chain of educational institutions. Prominent institution is SIT (Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur). They have lots of schools and colleages providing quality education to masses. Siddara Betta

One of the famous piligrim places. Interesting place for trekkers, rock climbers, nature lovers and cave explorers. It is arround 30+ KMs from Tumkur towards Koratagere.

Yediyur

Home of the famous Veerashaiva Saint- Totada Shivalinga, it has a famous temple of Sadhalingeshwara.

Pavagada Fort

Famous for ground nuts. Has a beautiful Hill Fort built in 1405 by a Vijayanagar chieftain was the scene of fierce battle between the English and Tipu Sultan.

Madhugiri

Madhugiri is known for its pomegranates and has one of the finest Hill Forts built by the Vijayanagar Kings. Othe interesting spot to visit are Jain Basadis and temples.

Marconahalli Dam

Reservoir built across Shimsha river.

Devarayana Durga

Small hill in the midst of the forest. Famous for temples and interesting rock formations. Rock climbers will enjoy this place. On the way to Devarayana Durga dont forget to stop by Namada Chilume, a natural spring.

Shivaganga Hills

Thought Shivaganga is in Bangalore district, it is closer to Tumkur than bangalore. It is a very nice hill station. Good for one day outing. If you plan to climb up to the top take extra care, it is very steaf hill. You will get rock climbing experience. To reach Shivanga, drive towards Bangalore on NH4 till Dabaspet (about 20km). Take right turn towards Shivaganga.

Kydala

Kydala just 5km from Tumkur has beautiful temple with God carved (Amarashilpi Jakanachari) from stone. Directions: From bus stand, drive towards kunigal, at Guluru take right turn and drive for 1.5KM.
